Teacher Found Dead in NYC High School Bathroom From Apparent Overdose

Nationwide — A 36-year old teacher was found dead of an apparent drug overdose in Public School X811, a public special education school in the Bronx. He was found in a locked bathroom.

A staff member reportedly found the teacher on the ground after forcing open the bathroom door that initially would not open. Authorities say he may have been dead for just a few hours because he had been last seen at the end of the school day by other staff members.

Police say that beside his body, they found drug paraphernalia, including a glassine envelope with an unknown substance inside.

The school district released a statement saying: “This is deeply saddening and my heart goes out to the teacher’s family and the school community. We will be providing grief counselors and ongoing resources to support students and staff during this difficult time.”
