R&B Group From Brooklyn Releases New E.P. “Life As We Know It” — A Clever Mix of R&B, Jazz, Hip-Hop and Soul

The Seal Breakers’ latest release features an ingenious display of styles from the Golden Age of R&B – all the way to today’s contemporary music.

“When you hear a group like The Seal Breakers – it sounds familiar… like they’ve already recorded several albums and won Grammys.” — Kevin Nottingham, Hipnott Records

The Seal Breakers

Brooklyn, NY — Life depends upon its inherent diversity to evolve. So it’s fitting that music mimics Mother Nature in The Seal Breakers’ forthcoming release, Life as We Know It. The EP will showcase an ingenious array of genres – from the Golden Age of R&B, all the way to today’s contemporary hip-hop, “turn-up” tracks.

Life as We Know It stands as a musical evolution for The Seal Breakers, which are a seven-member, Brooklyn-based musical collective founded in 2001. The group began to receive national recognition in 2014 with the success of their single entitled “Brooklyn.” The song received large-market radio rotation and became licensed as the official song of NBA’s Brooklyn Nets.

Life as We Know It is an amalgam of R&B, jazz, hip-hop, and pop and soul as well. The project was a creative quest exemplifying how The Seal Breakers have “broken through the seals” of artistic conformity. The group’s leader, Craig Williams explains, “This EP represents the music that surrounds all of us and reflects our ability as a movement to conquer each stylistic challenge.”

The five all-original compositions on Life as We Know It feature an assortment of throwback and contemporary music. The signature style of The Seal Breakers shines through, via their meld of inimitable brass and use of real instrumentation. Life as We Know It contains modern, ‘turn-up’ tunes, such as “Ready for War,” yet the album also emanates a retro flavor in tracks such as “Arri’ve.” Williams adds, “Our influences vary and stretch as far back as Earth Wind and Fire – yet also include artists of today such as Maroon 5, Jay Z and The Roots.”

To bring Life as We Know It to fruition, Williams relied on the production talents of Man Meets Machine (Notorious B.I.G., Junior Mafia) and Alectric Mayhem (50 Cent, G-Unit, YMCMB). Joining Craig in co-production was Alex Mosely of Trackmasterz (Mary J. Blige, Jay Z, R. Kelly) and Elliotte “Ethos” Miller.

For “Ready for War” Williams tapped the flair and finesse of multi-platinum and Grammy-nominated producer Travis J. Sayles (Justin Bieber, T.I., Kelly Rowland). The Seal Breakers are a cohesive group that epitomizes the eclectic evolution of R&B music in America… and with their latest release; they know Life as We Know It is about to change!
