Columbus, OH — Microsoft, in partnership with popular online social network HBCU Connect, recently celebrated a successful recruiting/ networking event held on Thursday, May 19th at The OAK Room in Charlotte, North Carolina. The event brought together nearly 100 black technology professionals and over 45 staff members from Microsoft looking to recruit local talent for technology careers immediately available in Charlotte, NC, Dallas, TX, Redmond, WA, and other Microsoft locations around the country.

Angela Daugherty, who was instrumental in coordinating the event on behalf of Microsoft, kicked off the event with a welcome message and invited guests to submit their information for prizes and giveaways at the end of the night. Brothers, Will and Daniel Moss were in attendance as well representing HBCUconnect.com, shooting photography for the event and greeting attendees, all of whom were personally invited.

“Microsoft once again is leading the way when it comes to investing in diversity recruitment and doing what it takes to connect with diverse talent where that talent resides. In just one evening Microsoft was able to set up over 30 interviews, and has already made hires from the investment,” says Will Moss, founder and CEO of HBCUconnect.com.

In addition to a general meet and greet with recruiters and other African-American tech professionals, Microsoft had the idea to host next day interviews to immediately connect with the talent, and make offers for employment, which was a huge success in that almost 50% of attendees were able to land next day interviews and a chance to work for the tech giant.

Earlier in the year HBCU Connect partnered with Silicon Valley tech firm, Symantec to bring together African American tech talent for a similar such event which saw similar success. “We are simply responding to the needs of our clients, and connecting diverse talent with these employers that are really serious about hiring as well as branding their company as an employer of choice within the African American professional community,” said Daniel Moss, Chief Business Development Officer for HBCUconnect.com.
