Meet Lewis T. Powell, an Award-Winning Actor/Director and Celebrity Master Barber

Nationwide — Lewis T. Powell is a celebrated celebrity master barber, award-winning actor, director, producer, and screen writer. Marking his 15th year in Hollywood Lewis, originally a native of Washington, DC and a Master Barber by family trade, his father a barber of 47 years, along with 17 barbers in his extended family, started off as a sweeper at his family’s barbershop at age 5.

Doubling throughout the years as a Master Barber, filmmaker, musician and actor with coast to coast experience from Washington, DC to South Los Angeles, Lewis is blazing a trail for himself as one of the most multi-faceted people in the entertainment business.

Here are 5 things to know about him:

#1 – He has cut the hair of over 50 celebrities from 50 Cent, Wale, Outkast (Big Boi, Andre 3000), John Singleton, Chris Paul, Soulja Boy, to name a few.

#2 – He graduated from Howard University, on a writing scholarship with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration & Management and known for his roles in the films, Kings starring Halle Berry and Daniel Craig, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Squatters, starring Richard Dreyfuss and Gabriella Wilde.

#3 – Powell has challenged audiences to confront the past with his critically-acclaimed short film, called Padlock Men. He plays the lead “Walter Posey Fodrell,” and shares one of his youthful memoirs of the historically secret band of vigilante civil rights soldiers known as the Padlock Men “Blood for Blood Knuckles Dirty.”

The 17-minute television pilot teaser that doubles as a short film serves as a slice and catalyst into the world of Lewis’s full project that is being developed as a one-hour episodic fictionalized drama and thriller limited series revolving around actual events set upon the backdrop of the civil rights movement.

Powell’s Padlock Men, of which he wrote, starred, directed, and produced has to date netted 28 ‘Official’ Film Festival selections with 17 wins and nominations for its depiction of the historically secret band of vigilante civil rights soldiers.

#4 – His mottos include: “The journey is the experience and the experience is the journey.” “I believe, if you aim for the sky, but move slowly, enjoying every step along the way, it is all those little steps that make the journey complete.” “Sometimes, it just takes a little longer to get to your destination, but if you make sure to enjoy the journey, eventually, you will get there.”

#5 – He is fluent in the art of scissor cutting and straight razor finishes and shaves.

 

Lewis continues to appear in films, as well as earning notice as a writer, producer, and director. His film Padlock Men is currently available on Amazon Prime.
