Houston, TX — Kimberly Cares is a Houston-based family wellness center created by Kimberly Barrow, Family Nurse Practitioner, because of her personal experiences with being uninsured. This full service primary care office was started to provide an affordable option for basic health services for patient and families without regard to insurance status.
Barrow comments, “Our nation has millions of families without adequate access to affordable health care. For many it is the difference between groceries or a $150 clinic visit. Treatable conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure often go unmanaged, leading to severe complications such as strokes or loss of limbs, due to lack of coverage.”
She says that’s why she was compelled to create a family wellness center that treats patients ages 12 months and older. Their services include the following: wellness exams for adults and children, sports physicals, vaccines including those for travel, daycare physicals, vision and hearing screening, department of transportation (DOT) exams, pre-employment physicals and drug screening, weight management, smoking cessation, STI testing, lab services, etc.
Kimberly Cares is located in the historical third ward area of Houston, Texas near the University of Houston. Their address is 5751 Blythewood Street Suite 700, Houston, TX 77021. The office hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9am – 7pm, Friday from 2pm – 9pm, and Saturday from 10am – 2pm. Same day appointments are available and walk-ins are also welcomed.
