English Teacher Who Taught Abroad Reveals Why Men Go to Brazil For Love

Keith Lane, author of Why Do Men Go to Brazil?

NationwideWhy Do Men Go to Brazil for Love? is a historical work of fiction by Keith Lane that explores the power of education and chronicles the journey of one American’s travel to Brazil, as he empowers the people through education, awareness and inspiration. It’s now available in paperback at Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com.

Today, there are more than 75 million people of African descent living in Brazil, which currently is the second largest Black population in the world. Despite it’s large Black population it was also the last country in the western hemisphere to abolish slavery, in 1888.

Brazil is often heralded around the world as a segregated nation example of what happens when there is conflict between races. Only 3% of the country’s Black population attends college. Many Brazilians of European descendants are still racist towards those from the slave trade.
Of those that do attend school, many live in fear of getting to school, considering the Brazilian homicide rate is one of the highest in the world. Of the 56,000 homicides in Brazil every year, 30,000 are young people aged 15 to 29. And 77 percent of these young people are Black.

Headlines then flood the media airwaves stating “Brazil’s failed education system is creating illiterates.” What can be done to remediate such a horrible situation? How can crime rates be diminished?

Why Do Men Go To Brazil For Love? Ties together the harrrowing past of the nation of Brazil with modern day trials and tribulations. “I have some solutions to the problems that have been plaguing the country for centuries. I want to inspire people and share what I know.” said Lane.

“I believe that I can impact the future of Brazil positively with this book. I want to show everyone what is possible with the power of education, which can be accessed more easily than we all might realize,” said Lane.
