Jennings, MO — Ebony Roby, a 25-year old mother from Missouri, is facing child endangerment charges after her 2-year old son fell out of the car she was driving and died. Police say that the child was not in a car seat or seatbelt, and that she was speeding fast when the incident happened.

Last Friday afternoon, Roby was driving when her son, Elijah, was hit by a car on Jennings Station Road near Interstate 70. After the accident, Roby brought him to a nearby gas station to ask for help and call 911. Elijah, who sustained critical injuries, was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The police didn’t explain exactly how the boy fell from the car but according to court documents, Roby allegedly had her son “in the back seat of her vehicle, unrestrained, while driving at excessive speeds, resulting in the child falling from the vehicle.”

The driver who struck the boy cooperated with the investigators, police said.

Roby has been arrested on child endangerment charges and is currently being held on $50,000 bond.
