Washington, DC — Corporate Counsel Men of Color® (“CCMC”), a subsidiary of Corporate Counsel Women of Color and a support network for men of color, returned for its 2nd annual Men of Color Career and Life Strategies and Power Networking Conference on June 7, 2019 at the Marriott Marquis Convention Center in Washington, D.C. More than 600 people attended from multiple industries, including STEM, law, and finance, just to name a few. In addition to an itinerary filled with informative sessions, workshops, and headlining speakers, CCMC also hosted a Hole-in-One Golf Networking Tournament the day prior, on June 6, 2019, at the TPC Potomac in Potomac, Maryland. Also, attendees with tour the National Museum of African American History and Culture and visit Dunbar High School for Community and Mentorship Day.

CCMC gained national headlines two years ago when it launched the groundbreaking Men of Color survey, which measured and assessed the experiences of men of color in the workplace. Uniquely, the survey was open to men of color in all industries and measured seven key components: (1) Career Goals, (2) Feedback and Relationships, (3) Diversity and Initiatives Within the Company, (4) Company Culture, (5) Sponsorship, (6) Employee Engagement, and (7) Future Plans to Stay or Leave Their Current Company.

Based on feedback from our conference survey, this year’s conference covered: Strategic Partnerships, Empowerment, Motivation, Mental Health & Wellness, Leadership, Career, Entrepreneurship, and Financial Management.

The conference hosted a variety of guest speakers, one of whom is Herm Edwards. Edwards is currently the head coach of the Arizona State University after spending nine seasons playing in the NFL and over 30 years coaching in both college and the NFL. Edwards is known for spending seven years coaching both the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs before serving eight years as an analyst for ESPN. Edwards provided a motivational session filled with his “Hermisms” on June 7th.

Other thought leading, motivational, and noteworthy speakers featured during the 2nd Annual CCMC conference included:

* John Quiñones (ABC News Correspondent and Host of “What Would You Do?”)

* Lamman Rucker (Actor, Greenleaf, Meet the Browns, and Why Did I Get Married?)
