Celebrate the HBCU Experience With First Ever Black College Subscription Box

Aventura, FL — Paying homage to the HBCU experience, Freshman Fun Box celebrates one year by adding the HBCU box to its roster. Capitalizing on their slogan “a hello from home,” the box is filled with different name brand and niche products parents know, love and trust to create an experience where everyone is worry free.

“We’ve had great success this past year, and I wanted to add an HBCU box in recognition of the importance of these institutions … our institutions,” says Peachi Williams, owner. “The design of the box is unique in that the name of every single HBCU is listed. Everyone is included. For me, it’s a symbol of us unifying as one. While this box will have some standard items, we want to focus on products that cater to students of color. We have included products from Black businesses in our previous boxes, but the goal is to really support our excellence in a major way.”

Featured on NBC’s Charlotte Today as one of the best subscription boxes for families, the box is adaptable for any level of college whether in a dorm or apartment. Each monthly box contains something to eat, wear, something for school, personal care and life skills training tools to help them navigate throughout the school year. There are four additional colors, and a birthday box or gift card which can be ordered any time of the year.

“As a parent of 2 college students, Freshman Fun Box has become a necessity to our everyday life. They have taken the stress off me by sending a care package out to my daughters with full-size and different products every month. I highly recommend,” says parent Marie Robinson. “My daughters really enjoy their boxes and always look forward to the next one.”

Giving back to the community, a portion of the proceeds from every box is donated to an educational non-profit to support providing boxes to students in need. The company has also formed partnerships with organizations like the Rainey Day Foundation to enhance their scholarship programs with yearly subscriptions. “We’re not just a box, we’re a resource,” says Williams. “We have a Facebook Parent Community, send out newsletters, host workshops and provide tips to ensure everyone is aligned. From home to school, we’ve got it covered.”

Orders for the Freshman Fun Box must be placed by the 20th of each month and ships during the second week of the following month. Available for one-time purchases, monthly subscriptions, or a full-year package, each box is valued at over $110.
