25-Year Old Brooklyn Man Accused of Trying To Pimp 13-Year Old Girls

Marcus Melo Sumpter

Brooklyn, NY — Marcus “Melo” Sumpter, a 25-year old man from Brooklyn, and three others were recently arrested for allegedly trying to prostitute two 13-year old girls. Sumpter reportedly met the girls at a party, took them back to his apartment for sex, and then tried to pimp them to others with the help of his friends.

Fortunately, the girls were rescued by family members before anything got started, but it is not believed that the girls were held with force.

Regardless, Sumpter and his associates are now facing a 32-count indictment, and Sumpter in particular is facing up to 25 years in prison for charges of kidnapping, rape and promoting prostitution. His associates, Joann Bailey, 55, and Jerry Brown, 57, are being held on bonds of $50,000 and $25,000, for lesser counts of unlawful imprisonment and others.

Brooklyn District Attorney Kenneth Thompson commented, “These defendants are accused of disgraceful actions involving young girls who should be protected, not exploited. Luckily, the young girls who were abducted are now safe and their abusers will now face justice.”

“The sexual exploitation of children affects not only the victims and their family, but society as a whole,” said NYPD Commissioner William Bratton.
