Burbank, CA — The Boondocks, a popular animated series for teens and adults, is set to return to Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim but creator Aaron McGruder is apparently not involved. Consequently, many fans are wondering how strong the show will be without the show’s creator behind the writing.
Scheduled to begin season four on April 21, 2014, The Boondocks is an award-winning series about two young boys from the South Side of Chicago who have been forced to live with their grandfather in California. The three main characters are brothers Huey and Riley Freeman, and their grandfather Robert Jebediah Freeman.
So why is McGruder not involved anymore?
Rumors say that he may have been booted off the show, but it seems more apparent that McGruder is busy working on another project. He is also the brainchild behind Black Jesus – another comedy series that will soon air on Adult Swim.
Television critics expect it to be as huge of a hit as The Boondocks, which by the way won an NAACP Image Award for “Outstanding Comedy Writing” in its third season, and also a Peabody Award for an episode whereas Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. survived the 1968 attempt on his life.
