Black-Owned Nail Salon Selected to Participate in Facebook’s National Small Business Campaign

Jennifer Purnell, founder of September Nail Salon

Nationwide — Jennifer Purnell, the founder of September Nail Salon, a Black-owned business in Germantown, Tennessee, is proud to announce that her company is being featured in a nationwide Facebook campaign called “Good Ideas Deserve to Be Found”. The campaign is designed to help people understand how personalized ads help them discover new things they love and support businesses in their community.

Many individuals who are interested in natural nail care and great bath and skincare products have found a haven at September Nail Salon. The campaign features a fun Facebook-produced video/commercial highlighting the 8-year old business. It began Thursday, June 9th, and will run throughout the summer.

The salon is located at 2101 Merchants Row in Germantown, TN. Upon entering, patrons will find a friendly, relaxing atmosphere with great shopping and gift ideas and professionals providing services such as manicures and pedicures for women, men, and children. They specialize in natural skin and nail care and do not use drills or artificial nail products.

Jennifer says that she is excited to have been selected to participate in the campaign. Her company has also participated in Facebook’s Leaders Network for the past two years and Purnell is a recent graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10K Small Business Program.

“We are grateful to Facebook for this opportunity. In addition to being a part of this campaign, we also received their Small Business Grant and met with members of the U.S. Congress to discuss current issues affecting small businesses. Facebook has been instrumental in helping us grow and promote our business. We anticipate it will become even more integral to our business as we seek to grow the reach of our hand-crafted bath and skincare product line, September BODY, with the launch of a new subscription service,” she said.

This couldn’t have happened at a better time for the small minority-owned business. Just like millions of other businesses September Nail Salon had to close its doors at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. After re-opening, they suffered significant water damage and once again had to close their doors. During both closures, the company kicked production and promotion of September BODY into overdrive to survive. September BODY features delicious-smelling skin-nurturing handmade soaps, bath bombs, body butter, lip balms, lotion, body butter oils, beard oil, and more. They also feature jewelry, masks, candles, spa boxes, and other gift-worthy items online and in-store.

Jennifer is optimistic about what the future brings and hopes the additional exposure from the campaign will help her salon continue to grow and thrive. To learn more about the company and/or to shop, visit SeptemberNailSalon.com and SeptemberBody.com.
