13-Year Old Girl From Chicago Shot and Killed While Making TikTok Videos Outside Her Home

Amaria Jones, black teen killed in Chicago

Chicago, IL — Amaria Jones, a 13-year old from Chicago, has reportedly died after being shot in the neck with a stray bullet while doing a popular TikTok dance right outside her home. Police are still looking for the gunman behind the shooting incident.

Amaria’s mother, Lawanda Jones, says she is heartbroken from the tragic death of her daughter. She was there during her last moments.

“I turned around and I was looking for her and she was on the ground reaching out like this, holding her neck,” she told CBS Chicago. “I was like, what?! What?! What?!”

Two other teen boys, ages 15 and 16, were also shot in the leg and in the back. They were outside Jones’ home when a man saw a red laser pointed at him before multiple gunshots were fired. The two boys were taken to the hospital and survived.

Jones, however, died shortly after being rushed to the hospital.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot personally expressed her condolences to Jones through a phone call. With the increasing number of victims of gun violence in the city, Lightfoot has been under pressure to address the issue.

Moreover, Jones is hoping the gunman, who is still unknown, would turn themselves in. The police are urging anyone with information in connection to the incident and the suspect to contact them.
