The story begins as Israel, a fetus, reveals he will one day negotiate peace between two countries on the brink of nuclear war. He is also passionately determined to remember his life as a fetus and fulfill his purpose in life. However, when circumstances "on the outside" spiral out of control with his 28-year-old parents, it is unsure if Israel will ever get a chance to be born and eventually save the world.
"I prayed for a story that was different from others and out came Womb Child," said Pascascio. "I wanted a story that would provoke thought within people. Every person has a purpose but that's not something many think about when considering a baby inside of his or her mother."
The story deals with highly-charged themes and controversial topics.
"After writing this book, I see a pregnant woman as the woman who might be carrying the child with the answer to a problem that has plagued the world for centuries. My only hope is that he or she doesn't get the condition many of us has as adults. I call it 'Oprah-envy.' It means we watch so many people fulfilling their purpose and complain about it because their greatness seems to magnify our own complacency, laziness or decision to settle for mediocrity. Yet, in secret, we want to be just like that person who's making great strives."
