Technology Entrepreneurs of 2004 Announced
Baltimore, MD - The editors of US Black Engineer &
Information Technology magazine (www.blackengineer.com)
have released their list of Top Entrepreneurs for 2004.
Individuals are chosen for this annual list based on their
hard work, spirit of entrepreneurship, and the success of
their companies in the vital sector of technology. During
the year that the list is publicized, its members are presented
to young people as role models, and their accomplishments
are upheld as examples of the important contributions made
on a daily basis by Blacks in high-tech world.
The Top Entrepreneurs are featured in the August/September
2004 edition of US Black Engineer & Information Technology
magazine, which is distributed nationwide to the top engineering
campuses, engineering and IT professionals, and high-level
decisionmakers whose work affects technology and science.
US Black Engineer & Information Technology has been published
for more than 20 years by Career Communications Group, Inc.
(CCG), the leader in celebrating diversity and promoting
the advancement of minorities and women in the fields of
engineering, science, and information technology. CCG provides
leadership in talent management and career development,
enabling employers to recruit, retain, and recognize highly
qualified workers.
It is important to understand the importance of the achievements
of these Top Entrepreneurs. Their leadership and achievements
impact the Black community and broader society far beyond
the immediate scope of their companies, communities, and
industries. The existence and growth of Black-owned businesses,
particularly wealthcreating technology businesses, are absolutely
essential to the movement of Blacks from a disadvantaged
position in our society. By lifting up its Top Entrepreneurs,
USBE&IT addresses a serious program revealed in the Minority
Business Development Agency s State of Minority Business
report: Blacks represent 12.7 percent of the nation's population,
but a mere 4 percent of U.S. companies are Black-owned.
Clearly, there is considerable room for progress, and our
Top Entrepreneurs and their colleagues have the privilege
and responsibility of paving the way.
These exemplars will gather in Baltimore, Md., on Thursday,
February 17, 2005, at a recognition event during the Black
CEO Summit, a high point of 19th Annual Black Engineer of
the Year Awards Conference. The BEYA Conference is the nation's
premier career development and employee recognition event
for Blacks in engineering, science, and technology. The
Black CEO Summit brings together Fortune 500 companies,
government agencies, and minority technology entrepreneurs
for an all-day event that includes seminars, keynote addresses
by leaders of industry, and the recognition gala for the
Top Entrepreneurs.
