Since the early part of this decade, The Soul-Patrol
Convention has sought to bring together the major entities
from the world of Black music, past, present and future,
using a series of educational and entertainment activities
in pursuit of “Great Black Music from the Ancient to
the Future.” In 2007, the objective is to expand that
concept with a focus on spreading that message to younger
people in the most positive way possible.
Soul-Patrol.com owner, Bob Davis says; “Clearly we are
in a crisis. As we look at the current landscape, Black
music/culture and history are under assault both internally
and externally. From mass media entertainers, corporate
interests, government policy and more, Black music/culture
and history are under daily attack and as a result many
of our younger people have become confused. We understand
that the future is at stake and we know that the key
to salvaging that future is in the hands of our younger
people. The Philadelphia Black Heritage Festival provides
us the opportunity to partner with and focus on entertaining
& educating younger people in a setting that is conducive
to their actually absorbing the message and advancing
the culture.”
Soul-Patrol.com’s worldwide community of artists, writers,
filmmakers and sponsors (from the worlds of Classic
Soul, Jazz, Southern Soul, Nu Soul and Spoken Word/Hip
Hop, have decided to come together in Philadelphia May
25th – May 27th to demonstrate their commitment to expanding
Black culture in a positive and empowering environment.
