Philadelphia, PA (BlackNews.com) - Filmmaker, Norman Johnson has used sculptures along the Philadelphia center city and Ben Franklin Parkway in his short film, Flash McCool: Something's Fishy Here. The film is registered with the Short Film Corner at Cannes, France.

The Short Film Corner is part of www.cannesmarket.com, a most-consulted web site of the film industry. The site has research tools for films and buyers. The Short Film Corner enables producers to present their films to a large international audience: broadcasters, publishers, distributors, film selectors, journalists, producers, agents looking for new talent.

The short film, portrays two off-centered Hobo clown detectives who are assigned by a Fat heavenly clown to investigate a Snake Head Fish menace. Johnson and his camera crew use romantic distortions of several Philadelphia sculptures as props to create ludicrous scenes that moved the story line.

According to Johnson, "The intent was to create surreal images often found in dreams. The tag line is that the film captures the dream of an elusive character and brings it to life."

He adds, "Some film sequences in Art house films do not make sense. Things just occur and characters may appear to do some things for no reason. In this sense, the film is experimental but is billed as a comedy."

This short film is the second episode to the short film, Flash McCool: Imagination, screened from last September 9th to December 12, 2004 at the University of Pennsylvania's Institute of Contemporary Art's video station. Johnson plans another episode but has not finalized the time-frame for production.

The short film was shot in Wissahickon Valley Park, along the parkway and at pre-selected center-city locations during the last Indian summer in September, 2004. It was completed in January, 2005. Brilliant sunlight and a cloudless sky enabled the filmmakers to capture magical and picturesque images of the sculptures and a climactic scene at one fountain.

Johnson does not know where the production and it's images will go but he does believe that Philadelphia culture and tourism development enthusiasts will find the short film quite amusing and useful in their efforts to promote the City of Philadelphia.
