Martial Arts Master Brings Message of Discipline to Schools

Sensei Jordan with students from the JMA Mentoring Initiative

Chicago, IL (BlackNews.com) - In 2007, over 30 Chicago Public Schools students fell victim to gun violence. More struggle daily with the challenges of gangs, drugs and limited school resources. Determined to provide realistic alternatives to mediocrity and disparity, martial arts master Fred Jordan and his organization the American Martial Arts Science Association (AMASA) have partnered with CPS to bring the science of martial arts to Chicago youth.

Through his Jordan Martial Arts (JMA) Mentoring Initiative, Sensei Jordan uses the physical rigors of martial arts science as a foundation to instill the mental tenacity required to be successful not only as a martial artist, but in life. Currently being held at 9 schools throughout Chicagoland, JMA Mentoring Initiative emphasizes the development of integrity in tandem with the body. Participants have shown drastic increases in their academic focus and performance, with several going on to excel in their post-secondary lives. In three years, more than 2,000 students have been impacted by this dynamic program that has received endorsements from Aldermen Manuel Flores, Carrie Austin and Mayor Daley.

"For me, the real joy is witnessing the change in the young people that come through my program," says Jordan. "They come in with whatever frustrations they may have, but learn that if they allow martial arts to strengthen them internally, the external challenges become irrelevant."

As AMASA's partnership with CPS continues to grow, Sensei Jordan hopes his message of personal fortitude resonates with those who share his goal of empowering youth to succeed. Sensei Jordan is available to discuss the physical, spiritual and academic benefits of martial arts sciences. To book Sensei Jordan, contact Marcus Davis at (312) 315-6007. You can also meet him this Saturday, January 26th. He will be conducting a holistic living seminar at the McDonald's located at 226 W. Sibley Blvd in Dolton at noon.

The America Martial Arts Science Association (AMASA), founded in 2003 by Mr. F.D. Jordan, assist the development of human excellence by providing the best education and training in holistic health for physical, spiritual and mental development through martial arts science, as well as expanding public understanding in the uncommon benefits of martial arts education.
