CME Social Justice Prophetic Award

Los Angeles, CA (BlackNews.com) - On Wednesday, April
6, 2005, Bishop Henry M. Williamson, Sr., chairman of the Commission
on Social Justice and Human Concerns for the Christian Methodist
Episcopal (CME) Church, presented Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr.
with the first Social Justice Prophetic Award during the Ninth
Episcopal District's Spring Convocation and Leadership Institute.

The
Social Justice Prophetic Award is given to outstanding
leaders who work effectively to advance the Christian
ethic of justice and equality for all people everywhere.
Rev. Jackson's more than 40 years of fighting for political
and economic justice, his two bids for the U.S. Presidency
and his effective work in foreign diplomacy make him
on of the most important leaders of our time.
On hand for the occasion with Bishop Williamson were
Bishops Lawrence L. Reddick, III, Presiding Prelate
of the Fifth Episcopal District of the CME Church (Alabama
and Florida), and Ronald M. Cunningham of the Tenth
Episcopal District (Nigeria-Liberia-Ghana-Jamaica-Haiti).
Bishop Williamson is the Presiding Prelate of the Ninth
Episcopal District which includes the states of Alaska,
Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, New
Mexico, and Oklahoma.
