Dayton, OH (BlackNews.com) - The Dayton Urban League Young Professionals (DULYP), in partnership with the Ohio Urban League Young Professionals (OULYP) and Wright State University, will present their 2007 Ohio Young Black Professionals Conference and Empowerment Zone - Creating Effective Outcomes for Our Future (CEOs for Our Future), featuring keynote speaker Tavis Smiley of The Tavis Smiley Show on public radio distributed by PRI, Public Radio International and Tavis Smiley on PBS. The conference will be held on October 18-20, 2007 at the Dayton Convention Center in Dayton, Ohio, also know as the Gem City Dayton, Ohio. Designed to develop young professionals, the conference will feature leadership training from the region's top executives, entrepreneurs, and community leaders. The CEO's for Our Future conference promises to be one of Ohio's best leadership conferences. Bringing together hundreds of young professionals, particularly African Americans, from across Ohio and the Midwest, this conference will provide personal and professional development for future community leaders.

Conference activities will kick-off Thursday with the Dayton Daily News (DDN) Empowerment Zone held at Wright State University and will feature hundreds of employers and colleges. The Empowerment Zone will feature a College and Alternative Options Fair sponsored by Job Corp providing workshops on applying for financial aid, college admissions and scholarships as well as alternatives to a baccalaureate degree. Also included in the DDN Empowerment Zone will be a Career Fair sponsored by JP Morgan Chase. They expect over 1,000 job seekers and local high school students to be in attendance for this event. On Friday and Saturday, conference participants will attend workshops and seminars on a range of subjects. There will also be a CEO Panel that will consist of top executives from companies in the region providing advice to conference participants on how to become top level executives or entrepreneurs. Workshops will help participants fulfill their full potential through effective leadership skills training.

"Natasha and I are extremely excited about the conference because it is a tool to help develop a pool of talented professionals. Furthermore it will be a very exciting and fun event that will be enjoyed by everyone," said Joey Williams, Honorary Co-Chair.

"We understand the importance of succession planning and creating a pool of talented individuals to assume leadership and top executive roles in the future, so we are not only focusing on young professionals, but college and high school students as well," said Catherine Crosby, Conference Coordinator and DULYP President.

Willie Walker, CEO/President for the Dayton Urban League (host affiliate) and Fred Wright, President of the Ohio Council Urban Leagues, stated, "We are very excited about this statewide event and look forward to hosting it on an annual basis. The young professionals are working very hard to make this the premier event for the state of Ohio."
