Houston, TX (BlackNews.com) - For SGR Music Group, rap music is a contact sport. Since 1998, they have been ascending towards national prominence using hip hop music as a way to help impact and empower lives as well as speak out on behalf of those without a platform. Several industry movers and shakers have kept a watchful eye on the labels ability to scrimmage with their mainstream counterparts however; many of those same insiders have distanced themselves from the message at the corner stone of SGR's material. Patience definitely seems to be a virtue for those running the label, as they continue to set their shoulders and plant their feet in a posture that suggests they are preparing to outlast the nay sayers and back door the industry gatekeepers.

The SGR Gladiators (artists signed to the record label) are torchbearers in the Christian rap genre. They all share a common bond and belief, as well as many resemblances in past musical involvement and life experiences. Background reveals that Son of Jesse, formerly known as W.G. promoted and recorded with successful regional acts including members of Nemesis and 4-Deep as well as became a key executive at Deadgame Records and Pen and Pixel Graphics. The female prodigy and first lady of SGR has worked with producer J. Dubb (formerly of P. Diddy's Hit men) as well as Jazzy Pha. She has most recently worked with Sean Blaze, of 50-cent acclaim. Even SGR's newest made man Big Nate has ties traced back to Jodeici, as he spent time with members of the band in California in pursuit of inking a deal, before accepting a different route in Hip-Hop music.

"Our music today serves a higher purpose and the greater good of our community, youth, young adults and the industry overall," says D. Smith, the president of SGR Music Group. "Our business in music is self described as Evangetainment, because we are spreading the Life changing message of Jesus Christ over unrelenting, trunk rattling and pulsating Hip-Hop beats," he adds.

The purpose of Gladiator Music (their self-described brand of rap music) is to meet today's and tomorrow's generation in the streets where they are, help them through the struggles and guide them to the solution and gift of salvation. Acknowledging that they are in a music business and have been approached with several promotion and distribution deals, they insist they are only interested in a deal that offer them creative control which will allow them to continue to enterprise without compromise. They are currently in negotiation with such a company and upcoming 2006 releases may possibly bear the trademark of one of the big 5 record companies, in addition to the SGR shield.

Until all the particulars have been faithfully and diligently worked out, expect SGR to continue to leverage the systems already in place to keep music in the market independently, both regionally and globally.

Through their internal operation termed Global Warming, SGR Music Group has formed a cartel alignment of music suppliers to establish a worldwide reach. Non-exclusive agreements will expand their Tuesday, May 31st release of Gladiator Music Vol. 1 beyond the brick and mortar retailers into the online, digital and ring-tone markets. In addition to your favorite music store you will now be able to purchase through all fine online stores including Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, Bestbuy.com and more. You will also be able to digitally download music through eMusic, iTunes and many other digital music providers. For supporters wanting to express their enlistment into the Gladiator nation, personalized Gladiator Music ring tones will also be available.
