Black Homeowner Website Born Out of Hurricane Katrina Tragedy

Long Beach, CA (BlackNews.com) - The Black Homeowner News website is narrowing the gap of homeownership for African Americans. BlackHomeOwnerNews.com, inspired by the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina on New Orleans black homeowners commits itself to filling the homeownership gap.
This site is now one of the largest sources of information for the much-ignored black homeowner, according to Alexa website rankings.
"Despite huge progress over the last 25 years, Black homeowners remain the most discriminated against. Especially when it comes to...Predatory lending, racial steering and home improvement scams," according to current HUD (Housing and Urban Development) studies.
"Watching the disrespect Black homeowners in the Gulf States received and continue to receive inspired me to create this information site," says publisher Roy Primm.
Black homeowners continue to experience unique challenges from other homeowners. Because of blatant and quiet discrimination, blacks remain the lowest racial category to own homes at 42%, compared to Latinos at 51% and 74% for whites.
Many experts believe this gap exist more from lack of information than a lack of finances. Afro Americans spend billions of dollars a year on entertainment and consumer goods alone (more than most countries). Information is the key to increasing homeownership.
With rising home costs and demand, the doors may close to many Afro Americans ever owning a home. Especially if the information gap doesn't narrow soon.
BlackHomeownernews.com tackles hard-hitting solutions favoring Black homeowners. For example, first time homeowner programs, home improvement grants and more.
