American Empowerment Weekend To Honor Metro Area Entreprenuers
Marcus Johnson To Accept The Legacy In Music Award At
This Year's Event

DC (BlackNews.com) - The African American Empowerment
Weekend, Inc. (AAEW) will honor Marcus Johnson, premier jazz
pianist and entrepreneur, on October 20, 2007 during the Second
Annual Conference at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Johnson is also
the President/CEO of Marimelj Entertainment Group, parent
company to Three Keys Music Studio 8121 located in Silver
Spring, Maryland. "I am so pleased that Marcus has been nominated
to receive our Legacy in Music award. We consider Marcus Johnson
one of the greatest jazz musicians and serious entrepreneurs
in the country and very deserving of this prestigious award,"
said Theresa Royal, Executive Director of AAEW.
Other awardees
include Alicia Fields, president and CEO of Vernell
Communications, Inc; a marketing firm that provides
consulting services for small and minority businesses
and co-publisher of the Minority Business Guide. Fields
will receive the Legacy Female Entrepreneur Award. Also,
confirmed as a recipient is Dante Lee, owner of Diversity
City Media/BlackPR.com/BlackNews.com,
a multicultural marketing and public relations firm
and alumnus of Bowie State University. Lee will be presented
the Legacy Rising Star Award. All additional awardees
will be announced at a later date.
AAEW, a non-profit organization, is committed to
honoring and uplifting African American Small Business
