"The
AAC is the tool that will now provide everyone with
the opportunity for equal and fair access to the African
American consumer and challenge them to step up to the
plate and acknowledge the value of our dollar," said
Bowlds.
The AAC uses a unique color-coded system where consumers
can choose between three categories - African American
owned and operated businesses (Red Category) , African
American men and women who work within the general market
(Green Category), and non-African American owned companies
and corporations within the general market that desire
to honestly and fairly compete for the good will of
the African American consumer (Gold Category).
Bowlds developed the AAC over 10 years while conducting
extensive research into the buying habits of the African
American consumer and the impact that the African American
dollar has on the economy. "This a tool like none other
in the nation," said Bowlds. "Our system has been thoughtfully
and fairly designed to act as a platform that harnesses
the wealth and resources of our communities while simultaneously
acknowledging and including non-African American enterprising
activities who desire to honestly compete for the purchasing
power of our communities, with full and equal access,
based upon a relationship that allows us to eliminate
the exploitations of the past."
The color coded system, the information, ease of access
and the fact that it's all in one place and can be updated
instantly makes this site an incredibly useful tool.
It is also a central clearinghouse for corporations
who are looking to further diversify their procurement
initiatives by doing business with African American
owned businesses.
Members can market and advertise their business, share
services and information, build a one-page informational
web page as well as support and patronize other member
businesses. In addition, men and women who work in the
general market and largely on a commission basis have
a resource to direct African American consumers to goods
and services they provide.
The launching of the AAC site will take place in two
phases with the first phase focused on building a comprehensive
membership database that consumers will be able to patronize.
The second phase of the launch will consist of marketing
the AAC and its member offerings to African American
consumers and the general market.
