Arlington, VA (February 11, 2013) -- Speaker and author Wilma Jones will present a Personal Empowerment Seminar based on motivation and thought concepts from her recently published book, Living Happier After: 20 Women Talk About Life After Divorce. The seminar will be hosted by Broad Street United Methodist Church (UMC), at 300 Broad Street in Portsmouth, Va on Feb. 16 at 2 p.m.
The seminar will support HerShelter (Help and Emergency Response, Inc), an organization that provides leadership, advocacy, and resources to survivors and communities affected by domestic violence and homelessness, in Portsmouth and Chesapeake. Donations will be accepted and more information on Hershelter and volunteer opportunities will be available at the seminar.
Rev. Lisa Blackmunson, pastor of Broad Street UMC, encourages community residents, single or coupled, who may be experiencing the end of a relationship or other personal challenges to attend the seminar to receive inspiration, encouragement and motivation - something many single people need during this Valentine season.
In Living Happier After: 20 Women Talk About Life After Divorce, women tell how they overcame the demise of their marriage and started living happier after their divorce. Women who overcame abuse, desertion, financial disaster, infidelity and more talk about their personal struggle and what it takes to overcome the end of a marriage and emerge living happier after. Talk show host Audrey Chapman, a nationally recognized relationship therapist and best-selling author states in the forward she wrote for the book, that during this time "wives...need a guidebook like Living Happier After."
The Living Happier After Manifesto graphically displays the concepts and attitudes of the women involved in the book project. It's available for free download at www.livinghappierafter.com/preview/blog/living-happier-after-manifesto/. A version for dad's is also available at the website.
Jones has become an expert in living happier after divorce, or any devastating life experience, thanks to the principles of Positive Psychology. Through an intensive period of reading and researching, including speaking with hundreds of people, surveying more than 100 women, and conducting in-depth interviews with more than 20 women, she confirmed what it takes to become healthy and happy after devastation.
Review copies of the book are available for the media upon request.
