Sheri Jones-Moffett

Washington, DC (BlackNews.com) - Sheri Jones-Moffett has been a busy lady. The singer best known for such Top Ten gospel smashes as "Come Ye Disconsolate" and "Celebrate" with vocal partner Ted Winn, is enjoying a nice side career as a solo artist. Aside from leading Donald Lawrence & the Tri-City Singers' 2007 #1 gospel hit "Encourage Yourself," she recently gave birth to a son, Jamal. She and her husband, Dion, also have a three-year old daughter named Khady.

The songstress will soon announce a new solo recording deal with a major gospel recording label; but in the meantime, Jones-Moffett adds her lush vocals to the breathtaking title song of Bishop T.D. Jakes' new holiday CD, The Gift Remains (Dexterity Sounds/Rhino). This jazzy tune is destined to become a future Christmas classic with its heavenly backing vocals, acoustic guitar strumming, an intro by Bishop Jakes himself and percussive Latin textures. In the majestic track, Jones-Moffet sings, "It's more than just some mistletoe, blinking lights and falling snow" in the song which reminds the world that Jesus Christ's birth is the reason for the holiday season.

Eboni Funderburk Grimes of EFG Promotions & Consulting in Nashville is working the song at radio and Capital Entertainment is working it in the press. The twelve-song collection boasts Grammy-winning saxophonist Kirk Whalum, CeCe Winans' majestic "O Little Town of Bethlehem", Debbie Winans' cover of the David Foster-Natalie Cole chestnut "Grown Up Christmas List" and BeBe Winans' orchestral take on "Joy to the World." Crooner Brian McKnight offers an urban-flavored reading of "The First Noel" while the project is rounded out with sing-a-long cuts by Mary Mary, the Joint Heirs duo, Angel Chisholm (daughter of Jacky Clark of the Clark Sisters), and Cyndy Paisley. In between songs, Bishop Jakes' sonorous baritone offers inspiring Christmas messages of hope and faith. Visit www.dexteritysounds.com for more information.
