Steve Harvey Chats With Tyler Perry At His Los Angeles Home

Steve Harvey Show interview with Tyler Perry

Nationwide — During a recent episode of Steve Harvey’s daytime talk show, filmmaker and playwright Tyler Perry opened up his home in Los Angeles and the two had an intimate hour-long chat. During the interview, Tyler talked about the ups and downs of his life and career – from his childhood to the start of his career in 1992 to his status now as a very successful person in the television and film industry.

When asked about his failures in life, Tyler responded that he tries not to look at that way. To him, failures are just “different directions”. He said one of his earliest “different directions” was when he walked away from a potential television deal with CBS to produce sitcoms for their network. He said that at the time, everyone thought he was crazy to do so, but it lead him to owning his own shows like House of Payne because he went in a direction that felt right to him.

Steve couldn’t help but to ask Tyler’s opinion on the current Presidential race, with Tyler revealing a hilarious story about meeting Bernie Sanders earlier this year. Tyler also filled in Steve on his latest role of being a father to his young son Aman and revealed how fatherhood has changed him.

Tyler’s latest film, Boo! A Madea Halloween, is his first comedy horror film, but the 8th film in the Madea franchise. Although the film generated a lot of negative reviews, it grossed more than $50 million during the first two weeks of its release.
