Coney Island, NY (BlackNews.com) - The Coney Island projects are known only for producing basketball stars Stephon Marbury, Sebastian Telfair and former Golden State Warrior Chris Taft. Reggie the FireKidd will represent Coney Island on the global hip hop scene. He is the often compared to and heir apparent to the other Brooklyn rapper known as Jay-Z.
Barely legal, The FireKidd is holding his own most recently securing second place at the Hot 97 2008 Summer Jam Tailgate MC Contest. He was nominated for Justo's Mix Tape Award for best street album for While U Slept II and was invited onstage at the WuTang reunion concert at Irving Plaza when RaeKwan remembered him from an earlier club performance. Reggie The FireKidd was most recently anointed Source Magazine Spit 16 artist of the week. The FireKidd is on a hip hop mission to bring fun back to the hip hop scene. Think back to the rap battles without the gunfire!!
The FireKidd's second self release CD While U Slept II features a hit single "I Wish It Would Rain." This track is dedicated to the slain NYC bridegroom Sean Bell. We are all Sean Bell! "Think About It" addresses a friend's life choice that can put him behind bars. "My World" features guest rappers and adds R&B vocals. It contains a strong anti-violence message and is reminiscent of Grand Master Flash's "White Lines." "Roll Wit Me" is the oft download from www.myspace.com/reggiethefirekidd and is currently being shipped to radio stations. It is likely to be the next out of the box Soundscan buster similar to Fitty's "In the Club."
