Oakland, CA (January 23, 2012) -- As seen on HBO, "THE PUNANY POETS" will stimulate all of your senses & rock your soul with a scintillating brew of erotic entertainment and HIV/AIDS awareness this Valentine's Season. All are invited to join them for their annual traveling showcase of poetry, dance, comedy and storytelling laid on a sensual soundtrack of R&B, Jazz, House and Hip Hop.
Punany cabaret shows are unique among African American entertainment, providing not only humor, but also sex education and historical insight on the perils of Black Sexuality shaped by a controversial and painful past. Jessica Holter is a mother, an activist and a gifted orator. She is a product of the Alameda County foster care system in Oakland, CA who was called to preach at the age of twelve, but found her plans derailed by sexual abuse and rape. She used the power of her pen to heal and survive and, at 41, is an accomplished publisher and author.
