Smyrna, GA — Jonee Nicole Hamilton, a 20-year old daycare worker, has been arrested and charged after she allegedly body-slammed a 16-month old child, causing bloody injuries. Apparently, she did it after becoming angry when the child didn’t want to go to sleep.

Hamilton was arrested on Tuesday and charged with aggravated assault and child cruelty, police said. She was held in the Cobb County Jail without bond.

Police began investigating on Tuesday, including reviewing the surveillance videos of the incident. Officer Heather Knight said the surveillance video wouldn’t be released because “it shocks the conscience. It is very disturbing.”

On Tuesday, they received a report that an employee shoved the child’s head to the mat, picked her up, and shoved again, busting the child’s lips. And that’s because she was upset the child failed to take a nap.

The child was treated at a hospital. Knight told WSB, “She went to a doctor. They don’t see a concussion. But something like this could’ve easily caused concussions, broken bones.”

Hamilton was hired by the facility, Oxford Babies, after passing a background check last September. She was immediately fired after the incident on November 28.

Knight said police are still investigating about other possible attacks that happened. She said, “We have to review pretty much their whole case, videos, to see if there’s anything going on.”

An area teacher, Amari Rite, expressed disgust with what Hamilton did. Hite said, “If it isn’t your occupation of choice, if you don’t think you’ll be good with children, find another job.”
