Nationwide — Remembering 60 years ago is difficult for anyone, but for Melvyn Amrine it’s especially challenging. Melvyn was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s three years ago. For his wife, Doris, it’s been hard to watch.
But she says something happened recently to remind her that even though the mind can fade, the heart never fails. The story, recently covered on
CBS Sunday morning by reporter Steve Hartman, shows how instinctive love is. Amrine, who ended up being lost for about 2 hours, may have lost his way but he did not forget a life-long tradition that has kept him and his wife close over the years.
