Atlanta, GA — On Saturday, May 26th, noted youth mentor and anti-violence and peace activist Orrin “Checkmate” Hudson will use a life-size chessboard to bring valuable life lessons to local youth at the Hilton Atlanta in downtown Atlanta, Georgia.

The “Chess for Charity” event will take place from 6:30pm to 10pm, and there is no cost to attend, but donations are suggested to give back and help empower the youth. All donations will go to Hudson’s non-profit organization, Be Someone (www.BeSomeone.org), which has brought more than 61,000 students nationwide the life-affirming message of “Peace, Positivity, and Purpose”.

Dr. Rashad Richey, a radio personality who reaches more than three million listeners daily on Atlanta’s WAOK and V-103, will be on-site to share valuable information as a clinical psychologist, mentor and inspirational speaker.

Hudson comments, “By teaching children to outthink the competition, young people will learn to respect others, think before they make dangerous moves, and give more than they take.” The session will outline specific strategies that help students put “Brains Before Bullets.”

About the founder

Hudson himself was an at-risk youth, but he changed his life and went on to become a former Air Force veteran and law enforcement officer. He has since been featured on CNN, MSNBC, the Tom Joyner Morning Show, Good Morning America, and in national publications like Ebony, Jet, Black Enterprise, and People Magazine.

He has been awarded the prestigious FBI Director’s Community Leader Award, and later this year, he will be receiving the “Black, Cool, and Brilliant” award by Dr. George C. Fraser at the upcoming 17th annual FraserNet PowerNetworking Conference in Washington, DC.

Orrin’s life-changing message to urban youth is:
* Get Your Heads Up!
* Get Your Pants Up!
* Get Your Grades Up!
* and Never Give Up!
