Atlanta, GA (BlackNews.com) -- Jeremiah Camara, author of the groundbreaking book, Holy Lockdown: Does the Church Limit Black Progress?, has released his second book entitled, The New Doubting Thomas: The Bible, Black Folks & Blind Belief. Holy Lockdown received international acclaim which led to speaking engagements in churches and colleges across the country including Harvard University.
The New Doubting Thomas is a more extensive work by Camara which specifically addresses the unique African-American dynamic with the Christian faith and its impingement upon Black culture. The book also delves into the myths and motivation behind priestly doctrines, while also addressing the mental side effects of blindly believing in primitive tales based upon what "God" allegedly proclaimed.
"I wanted people to have a better understanding of the belief system of which we are surrendering our most precious resources - time, effort and money", states Camara, "and help explain the irony in how one of African descent winds up receiving their moral guidance and spiritual edification from books called Hebrews, Romans, Corinthians, Galatians etc. I wanted people to understand that the bible is not an organically divine element that supernaturally came into existence and the "founding fathers" of Christianity were natural men in powerful positions that coercively ascertained Christianity’s proliferation throughout the world."
Camara adds, "We cannot continue to be intellectually imprisoned by one book of which very few believers have read entirely or understand its convoluted passages. Antiquated fables have collided with the age of information. Blind, unquestioning acceptance regarding our religious faith can no longer be dictated by fear and biblical dogma must inevitably be questioned."
The New Doubting Thomas, foreword by Dr. Ray Hagins; despite its intimidating title, is a compassionate, solution oriented, exhaustive contribution to the African American library of important literature.
