| National Black Herstory Task Force To Host Annual Conference and Awards Banquet, March 26-27, 2010

Atlanta, GA (BlackNews.com) -- The National Black Herstory Task Force (NBHTF) will host its Thirteenth Conference and Awards Banquet on March 26-27, 2010 in Atlanta, GA. "Empowering Our Communities: Self-Determined, Unified, Resourceful and Educated," is the theme of the 2010 event. The conference sessions will be held on Friday, March 26, 2010, 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on the campus of Emory University in the Whitehead Auditorium, 615 Michael Street. The Awards Banquet Gala concludes the event on the following evening, Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Loudermilk Center Ballroom 40 Courtland Street in downtown Atlanta, GA.
Maggie Anderson, JJD/MBA, co-founder of The Empowerment Experiment a pioneer in supporting and promoting Black business will lead a special two part conference session. Mrs. Anderson and her family created a media sensation by publicly committing to live off Black business for one year. Dubbed the 'Year of Buying Black' by the national media, Mrs. Anderson will report on the reasons, results and future of what has become a 'movement.' Her presentation will be followed by response panelists Michael Hill, CEO and President, Atlanta Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce, Sheldon Joseph, Business Manager, Show Me The Way Foundation, Anna Henderson, President, Georgia Black Chamber of Commerce, Eduardo Waite, Esquire, Dr. Trenace Pyles, Founder, CEO, The Atlanta Small Business Training Consortium, Inc and, Warren Green, Owner, DecoArt Manufacturers of Atlanta.

Two other conference session topics to be explored are "The Politics of the Black Female Body," where the goal is to openly discuss mental and physical images of black women as portrayed by society and to discuss how women see themselves, others and why? The panelists are Rasheedah Carkhum, Social Services Supervisor, Emory University Hospital; Katrice Mines, Editor, Atlanta Tribune Magazine; Alysia "L. Divine" Logan, Author and Educator and; Latonya S. Peterson, Social Worker and Author. Co-Facilitators Sharon Skipper and Monica Roberts aka Transgrio will lead the session entitled "The Basics of Gender Identity and Expression. They will present their stories with special mention regarding Caster Semenya, the South African Runner and her difficulties in competing in events as a woman. All sessions will offer an opportunity for audience participation.
Mozella Galloway, the President & Co-Founder of the NBHTF stated that the goal of the conference is to successfully bring together a diverse groups of people from academia to grass roots members of the global community. In 2000, the organization was presented with the United States President's Commission on the Celebration of Women in America Certificate of Recognition for developing ways to best acknowledge and celebrate the roles and accomplishments of women in American History. Presenters and attendees have come to the events from as far away as Canada, Jamaica, the United Kingdom and countries throughout Africa.
The program will concluded with the annual awards banquet. This is year's honorees are Dr. M. Bahati Kuumba, Associate Director of the Women's Research and Resources, Spelman College, Angela Robinson, Host of the PBA 30 Television Program "In-Contact," Twanda Black, Public Affairs Director, Cox Radio Kiss 104.1 FM, Gwendolyn Keyes-Fleming, District Attorney DeKalb County, GA, Derrius Quarles, Scholar and Morehouse College Student, Malkia M'Buzi Moore, Activist, Njere Alghanee, National Co-Chair, N'Cobra, Included will be posthumous celebrations of the renowned legacies of, Queen Mother Audley Moore, Mrs. Frances Pauley and Dr. John Hope Franklin.
The Mistress of Ceremonies for the gala will be Angela Harrington Rice, Producer and Host of AIBTV's "A Women's Place." Ms. Black Georgia USA April Crawley will give the occasion. Entertainment will be provided by Soloist Reginald "The Voice" Dancil who will also be the DJ. Caribbean Neo Soul Artist, Jagwonder will perform, also Hip Hop Group, The Drop Squad will bring their message. Giwayen Mata All Female Drummers and Dance Troupe.
