National Association for the Advancement of Colored People California – Hawaii State Conference: Moving Forward in Times of Uncertainty

Los Angeles, CA — The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), America’s largest and original legacy civil rights organization, is pleased to announce the 30th Annual California – Hawaii State Conference entitled, “Moving Forward in Times of Uncertainty”. California Hawaii President/NAACP National Board Member, Alice Huffman, will lead the state conference of the civil rights organization in making a stand on issues that are contradictory to the Americas promise on October 26 – 29, 2017 at the LAX Marriott Hotel.

On Friday October 27, 2017, from 11:30am – NOON, a special press conference has been called to announce resolutions focusing on disparities of citizens civil rights. The NAACP is committed to raising awareness for political, educational, social and economic equality of minority group citizens in the country. We are seeking action and immediate correction, as we continue Moving Forward in Times of Uncertainty.

Resolutions to be presented to the California Legislature for bills and policy implementation declaring the civil rights organizations position are as follows:

I. Resolution calling for the removal from congress the resolution making the star-spangled banner the National Anthem

II. Resolution supporting the protest highlighted by Colin Kaepernick and to censure the outrageous behavior of President Donald Trump

III. Resolution calling for quality education

“Despite the attempts made from current President Trump to take back items we’ve championed and gained over the past 8 years, we are going to hold the line strong and this convention in California is the kick off for the betterment of our members. We are NOT going back!” says California Hawaii President/NAACP National Board Member President Alice Huffman

Several invited dignitaries, elected officials and celebrities include, NAACP National Board Chairman Leon Russell, NAACP President/CEO Derrick Johnson, San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, Inglewood Mayor James Butts, California State Senator Steven Bradford, Ron Hasson President Beverly Hills/Hollywood Branch, Freda Payne and a host of many others will stand in support of the noted resolutions.

Standing on shoulders of great men and women, we embody the words of former late NAACP National Board Chairman Julian Bond, “Good things don’t come to those who wait. They come to those who agitate”. As always, the California – Hawaii State Conference of the NAACP will continue to fight to ensure that the needs of justice, education, and equality are being upheld.
