The 5th Annual Economic Summit & Expo Addresses Thriving in Any Economy

Fostering Growth in the Entrepreneurial State of Colorado

Denver, CO (BlackNews.com) - Titled, "Survivor: Thrive in Any Economy," the 5th Annual Economic Summit & Expo, which will be held Friday, June 5th at the Colorado Convention Center, will offer timely information and opportunities for those who wish to thrive despite current tough economic times.

Carla Ladd, Founder of the Mountain Regional Black Economic Summit (MRBES), with the assistance and guidance of the event's planning committee, has organized the past four summits in an effort to bring together the various financial, business and human resources to stimulate learning and growth amongst Colorado minorities. Although the Summit addresses the needs of minority business owners and professionals, it offers learning opportunities for all Coloradoans.

This year's summit offers a three-track multicultural economic development and networking initiative for professionals, small business owners, and youth in the Mountain Region. Registrants will have the opportunity to attend educational and business related workshops. One such workshop will provide updates on business opportunities available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Stimulus Package). The Annual Leadership Luncheon and book signing features keynote speaker Dr. Randal Pinkett, Chairman and CEO of BCT Partners and the season four winner of NBC-TV's The Apprentice. Additional speakers for the 2009 Economic Summit will be announced over the next few weeks.

Expo attendees will explore "avenues" for Supplier Diversity, Health & Wellness, Business-to-Business services and a mini-Job Fair. Plus, the daylong expo will include one-on-one business, career and financial counseling sessions for registrants.

The final summit agenda, The Youth Apprentice Contest will engage teams of regional high school aged youth to resolve the real-world problem of the soaring high school dropout rate. Winning teams will be awarded up to $1500 cash along with other great prizes. High School students are encouraged to apply online at www.mrbes.com/youth.html no later than May 6, 2009 or email youth@mrbes.com for more information.

"Through this program, our children will have the opportunity to glean real-world insight as to what problems affect Colorado. This comes at a crucial time in our history, as we battle the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression," stated Colorado Governor Bill Ritter. "The leaders of tomorrow are molded today, and as they share their input we can join and reflect on solutions for the future."

Sponsors of the 5th Annual Economic Summit & Expo include American Family Insurance, Xcel Energy, the City & County of Denver, Nielsen, MillerCoors, Community Financial Services Association, Comcast, Kaiser Permanente, Wells Fargo and Forest City Stapleton.
