Owings Mills, MD (BlackNews.com) - The Late Rev. Dr. Edgar LeRoy Reid was Senior Pastor of Second Baptist Church and President of local branch of the NAACP in Jefferson City, Missouri when Medgar Wiley Evers of Mississippi was shot and killed in June of 1963. He said at a march of mourning for Medgar Wiley Evers "my next son will be named Medgar."
In August of 1965, Rev. Medgar LePratt Reid was born as his father pastored The Gospel Tabernacle Baptist Church in Baltimore for a quarter of a century (1965-1990). Rev. Medgar LePratt Reid has been involved with NAACP since he was a child. He has served as a board member of the local branch in Baltimore City, a board member for NAACP Maryland Statewide Convention and at the national level as board member for The Youth Entrepreneur Institute.
Rev. Medgar L. Reid has always been a multi-tasked servant/leader. He has been described by many as the "James Bond" of ministry and "The Grand Master of Positive Vibrations". In the business world, he is Managing Director of The Technology Acquisitions Group (www.TECACQ.com); Vice President of The Reid Stress Management Center for Women (www.womenandstress.com) and Chairman, President & CEO of ICFA. His company has recently signed an agreement with Tekcollect to do accounts receivable work in all fifty states, especially the Mid-Atlantic region.
"I am very excited about Ben Jealous and the direction he wants to go with the organization," said Rev Reid. "I pledge that 10% of all new business into ICFA via Tekcollect will go to the national NAACP for unrestricted use. We want to coordinate this with the 64 member board through the attendees at the Leadership 500 summit." As the first African American President-Elect and Paul Harris Fellow of The Rotary Club of Baltimore in its 96 year history, Rev. Reid knows about reaching out to the global business community. He is well traveled and has extensive business contacts throughout Asia and The Middle East.
Rev. Reid is married to Dr. Stephanie E. Reid, a Naturopath. He has a daughter, Megan S. Reid and a stepdaughter, Diamonique D. Clark who are both Ingenuity Students in Baltimore. He is a member of many organizations, including On-Call Staff Chaplain at The University of Maryland Medical System/Shock Trauma since 1995. He describes himself as a simple human being committed to helping others reach their highest and most passionate goals through developing powerful, quiet relationships founded on confidence, shaped by respect and held together with trust. Rev. Reid's favorite scripture is Proverbs 3:5,6. Medgar says, "I will do all I can to help uplift the seven billion people on the globe in collaboration with the ideals and principles of the NAACP."
