| Marcus Johnson "Flos" Into The New York City Music Scene This Week
New York, NY (BlackNews.com) -- NAACP Image Award nominee and Billboard Top 20 contemporary jazz artist Marcus Johnson takes center stage at the J&R MusicFest & Tech Expo, Saturday, August 28th at 12 p.m., in New York City's City Hall Park.
The show will feature tunes from Johnson's recently released 12th CD entitled, This is How I Rock - the latest of 13 critically acclaimed solo CDs. Rock is currently a top 20 album on Billboard's jazz chart. He'll likely be the only performing artist with a JD/MBA from Georgetown and his own wine label, FLO Brands (For the Love Of).
Marcus got his musical start while at Georgetown in 1995. There, he independently produced and distributed his first album, Lessons in Love, which went on to sell 40,000 units - a significant feat for an emerging artist's debut release. When he's not in the music studio, fans can find Marcus in the classroom, where he's a business development professor at Bowie State, and has been on the faculty of the Georgetown University Center for Professional Development. He also frequently volunteers in East Coast schools and community centers, and is dedicated to helping at-risk youth overcome adversity and achieve their dreams - a modern-day renaissance man.
Marcus is in New York City throughout this weekend to dish about music, wine and youth as part of the J&R MusicFest.
