Washington, DC (BlackNews.com) - GiGi Stone launched their first fine fragrance, Ivy & Pearls Eau De Parfum, at the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated National Convention in July 2008. GiGi Stone felt that this was the perfect event to launch the new fragrance, Ivy and Pearls, as one of their signature products with a resounding theme which symbolizes elegance, beauty and strength as is true for this illustrious organization celebrating 100 years of service. Although inspired by members of the sorority, "the fragrance represents women both nationally and internationally from all cultures as GiGi Stone believes that every woman should be empowered to enhance their beauty and inner strength," states Sheila Cash, President of GiGi Stone. Currently, GiGi Stone is working with various spas and specialty boutiques to add Exclusively Sold items for consumer purchase in retail locations across the country as well as in department stores.
GiGi Stone is the vision of two college best friends and chemistry majors from North Carolina A&T State University. In 1999, the dream was born to Sheila Cash, as she began making soaps and skin-care products as a hobby. After researching the best in natural soaps, aromatherapy, and skin-care products, the first batch of glycerin based soaps and lip balms were created. Cash states, "Our test market of family and friends loved our moisturizing soaps, balms, and lotions, so much so they encouraged us to continue the pursuit of our dream."
The pursuit heightened in 2002. After constant encouragement from Lisa Bradford Porter, Vice-President of GiGi Stone, the aromatic candle line was added. Lisa's candle creations were sought after by many. "Yes, our products quickly became known for awakening the beauty in you. Today, all our candles are soy based – an environmentally friendly product with a cleaner, longer burn time," states Porter.
GiGi Stone offers traditional aromatic candles as well as Lotion Candles. The uniqueness of the Lotion Candle combines the fragrant aromatic varieties with its functional purpose of being a moisturizing lotion for one's skin. Porter, also said, "Our Lotion Candles nourish the skin and undoubtedly enhance the beauty in you. In an effort to benefit the better man, Cause Awareness Candles and Chocolate Candy were created for: Breast Cancer Awareness, HIV/AIDS Awareness, and Support Our Troops Campaign. Proceeds from these sales go toward the cause we support."
