Los Angeles, CA (BlackNews.com) -- Actress Ella Joyce, best known and beloved for her co-starring role of Eleanor on FOX TV’s “Roc” portrays the sweet faced Sister Watkins in Stan Foster's Preacher's Kid starring LeToya Luckett and singer Tank. Preacher's Kid is currently being screened in 33 cities following the Red Carpet premiere at Magic Johnson's Theater in Los Angeles last week, and is being supported and applauded by church ministries across the country.
This highly praised Warner Bros film follows Ella's brief stage absence from her own critically acclaimed one-woman play A Rose Among Thorns - a Tribute to Rosa Parks, which she is now making available to present during Black History Month and Woman's Month in February and March, respectively. Ella also appears in the soon to be released comedy Our Family Wedding starring Forest Whitaker, directed by Rick Famuyiwa, to be released in March.
A Rose Among Thorns has performed in 25 cities around the country resulting in standing accolades, repeat visits, and several awards of appreciation including an NAACP nomination in Los Angeles. The show’s footprints have included The Rosa Parks Museum in Mrs. Parks' hometown of Montgomery, Alabama, schools, museums, churches, corporations, and special events sponsored by private social clubs to private living rooms. The Winston-Salem Journal called her performance “spellbinding“ and “mesmerizing“. The Houston Arts called her “…refreshingly intimate.” The late Jack Zink of South Florida Sun-Sentinel called A Rose Among Thorns “a well-crafted play.” See live clip highlights from the play at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAAAPsXvpkA
