Denver, CO — The Mountain Region Black Economic Summit (MRBES) is celebrating its 10th Annual MRBES Success Summit & Expo on May 29 at the Denver Marriott Tech Center.
The theme is “Celebrating 10 Years of Educating, Encouraging and Empowering the Community.”
The Women in Leadership Management Awards (WiLMA) Luncheon, named in honor of former legislator and Denver’s first African American First Lady, the Hon. Wilma J. Webb, stands as the premier networking luncheon honoring several local women for their commitment to community and professional success. The luncheon keynote speaker is Jandel Allen-Davis, M.D., Vice President of Governmental and External Relations for Kaiser Permanente Colorado.
The dynamic Maggie Anderson, author of Our Black Year, will set the stage during the morning plenary session.
The summit as a whole has more than exceeded the expectations that MRBES Executive Director Carla Ladd held when she first envisioned an event that was more than a trade show or corporate luncheon.
“I wanted to go beyond the usual swapping of business cards and provide tangible tools for start-ups, financial literacy, business maintenance and growth,” said Ladd, who looks forward to celebrating this milestone year with the loyal group of like-minded entrepreneurs and advisors she has befriended over the years. “I’m happy that the event has inspired participants to stay the course toward business and economic empowerment.”
