The 'Digitalectual Revolution' Has Arrived: BlackPower.com

New Online Magazine Offers Edgy, Creative Views on News, Race and Pop Culture

Jam Donaldson

Washington, DC (BlackNews.com) - Aiming to 'challenge the myth of monolithic black thought' by drawing on intelligent content and uniquely cultural context, pop culture pundit and Internet phenomenon Jam Donaldson in partnership with Urban Communications today announced the launch of 'BlackPower.com' (www.blackpower.com), a new online magazine connecting news, politics and entertainment from an urban point of view.

"The 'digitalectual revolution' has arrived," declared Donaldson, BlackPower.com's Managing Editor and former Executive Producer of Black Entertainment Television's (BET) popular series "We Got To Do Better." "BlackPower.com branches beyond generational, socio-economic, racial, educational and geographic lines to present a 360 degree perspective of the issues of interest to urban communities in the US and around the world. BlackPower.com gives urban readers another option for news and commentary--its for those who don't want generic 'black news' and also for those who are tired of ideological ranting."

Injecting an editorial edge unseen in other online "urban" news magazines or traditional media outlets, BlackPower.com will showcase both experienced journalists and bloggers alike from all over the world, all taking an outside-the-box approach towards race while utilizing the site's multi-media platform. "This is not just another news website," explains BlackPower.com Supervising Editor Ericka Blount Danois, an acclaimed author who has written for publications including Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Sports Illustrated, and Black Enterprise. "We are introducing a dynamic new medium that will bring writers of all experience levels and points of view closer to their audiences and by extension, develop organic cultural, collaborative and intellectual connections on a variety of issues."

Adds Donaldson: "This is an exciting time, so I cordially invite readers to get ready for a journey to the web's newest 'digital destination.'"

"Gas prices are still too high, but at least our think tanks will be full!"

BlackPower.com Magazine is currently accepting submissions spanning multiple categories.
